Cutting My Losses {Monthly Makes}

My last super prolific sewing period was in the last century when the internet barely existed, let alone social media.  Yet, even as someone who eschews social media, I have become aware of all the themes and challenges the garment sewing community has over the course of the year.  Case in point: Me Made May.

Me Made May 2025

I am not going to pretend that I know the origins of the event (or the kind-of cringy name), but I did my best to participate in my own little, mostly offline, way. I had intentions of snapping a picture of each outfit that featured a handmade element, but that effort didn’t last long (see the last post about May not being what I expected).

I hope you will take my word, despite my lack of photographic evidence, that I wore a lot of clothes I made in May. Below are a couple of the photos I managed to snap highlighting my Sinclair Harper Cardigan, a mash-up of the Peppermint Bardon Dress with the Helen’s Closet Orchard Dress, and my Allegro Skirt. I also wore a few of my April Makes including the June Pants and Vivace Dolman plus the Montvale Dress and Tunic, Luna Tank, and Hansie Top mentioned in other posts.  All-in-all, a decent me-made showing for a relative noob.

May Monthly Did Not Makes

I had big ambitions for May. A long list of projects and patterns to tackle. Here is what I have to show for it:

A stack of garment sewing projects cut out and ready to assemble.

And, if I am honest, none of these projects were actually cut out in May. The first few were done at the very end of April and the second two the first weekend in June. The only project I did in my sewing space in May was deep cleaning the rug (which looks great!).

That said, I have managed to sew up a couple of these project already this month so stay tuned for the June recap to see the finished items.

As for June sewing plans? You can read all about them in the May sewing plans post! I might mix up a few things, but I am still excited about the plan overall.
